(Excerpt from “Beware the Hippo and Other Beasts on the River of Life”)

As the story goes, in 333 B.C. Alexander marched his army into Gordium in modern day Turkey. Upon arriving in the city, he encountered “several knots all so tightly entangled that it was impossible to see how they were fastened.”  An oracle had declared that any man who could unravel its elaborate knots was destined to become ruler of all of Asia.

Alexander wanted to untie the Gordian knot. After wrestling with it for a time and finding no success, he stepped back from the mass of gnarled ropes and proclaimed, “It makes no difference how they are loosened.” He then drew his sword and sliced the knot in half with a single stroke.

The moral of the story is that once you remove the barriers in life then you enable action.  Be bold and confident and find a creative way to handle what seems like an insurmountable problem.  Removing the barriers in life will often enable us to take the shortest route to success.

Thinking Outside the Box

Are you able to connect all nine dots without lifting your pencil from the paper?

You can solve this problem with just 4 lines if you go outside the 9 dot box limitation created by your mind.  You need to tap into your inner eagle…or think like Alexander the Great.

It’s those hidden boundaries that hinder our journey toward success.
